1. Integrity Studies
TI-Kenya conducts integrity studies on corruption and governance. The studies encourage the accumulation of knowledge on corruption and its effects on development. The integrity studies form a basis for TI-Kenya’s advocacy interventions. Integrity studies undertaken by TI-Kenya include:

2. Corruption Risk Assessments
TI-Kenya conducts studies which seek to identify weaknesses within a system which may present opportunities for corruption to occur. These assessments focus on the potential for - rather than the perception, existence or extent of – corruption in a particular sector or institution. The findings of these studies inform interventions to prevent corruption and build integrity management systems.
3. Research Tools
These provide TI-Kenya and other actors undertaking anti-corruption initiatives with systematic, empirical and methodologically consistent information. Such information is key in monitoring and evaluating anti-corruption efforts, assessing their impact and tracking institutional change over time by creating a knowledge base for a national evidence-driven anti-corruption agenda. These tools also aim to measure corruption and provide benchmarks of integrity and efficiency in public organisations. By so doing, they add pressure on public institutions to address corruption and provide a measure that can be used to recognise achievement in combating corruption. The tools are:

Monitoring and Evaluation
TI-Kenya has put in place a monitoring framework that is easily understandable and usable to ensure the institution’s objectives are met. In each annual work plan, TI-Kenya develops a matrix for tracking the indicators selected. The following mechanisms are used:
TI-Kenya develops annual work plans covering all its programmes in line with the organisational mandate; strategic priorities and programme objectives.
Quarterly and monthly reviews: Annual work plans are reviewed by staff every month and quarter. This enhances effective Monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting.
Bi-annual reviews of operating environment: Twice a year, TI-Kenya conducts a two-hour review of the Strategic Plan and the operating environment. The review will involve staff, members and allies.
Annual reviews: Each programme office provides an annual analysis based on the work plan of results achieved; lessons learnt and proposed changes in their programme.
Performance appraisal: TI-Kenya will implement, in the course of the current strategy, a result-based performance appraisal system for all staff.
Board Evaluation: In order for the Board to be in tandem with best Board practices, it has been suggested that the Board should also carry out an evaluation of itself.
Mid-term and end of plan evaluation: TI-Kenya conducts a mid-term evaluation of all TI-K’s programmes. In 2012, an end of period evaluation will be conducted. Both evaluations will be done by an external consultant. These evaluations will be in line with the Monitoring and Evaluation policy being developed.
