Samuel Kimeu - Executive Director
Mr Samuel Kimeu joined TI-Kenya from the Embassy of Finland, Nairobi where he had been the Governance Advisor since October 2007. He is a lecturer of Law and previously the Executive Director of the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ-Kenya). He has also been involved in extensive research on human and civil rights, the judiciary and constitutional law. He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Masters of Law with a focus on International Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Transitional Justice and Comparative Constitutional Law from the University of Notre Dame. He received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi
Dalmas Owino Okendo - Head of Programmes
Dalmas has over seven (7) years work experience in community mobilization and organization, project/programme management, proposal writing, policy advocacy, monitoring and evaluation. He has also researched, written and or published, the following both individually and in collaboration with others: Women’s Rights to Adequate Housing; The Decentralized Funds Regime in Kenya; A Simplified Version of the Persons With Disability Act; A simpler version of the Concluding Observations of the UN Committee on ESCR Kenya’s first report on ESCR; and The Indigenous Fisher Communities of Kenya and Kenya’s New Constitution, among others. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Arts (Anthropology) from the University of Nairobi, has attended the Global Learning and Linking Programme on ESC Rights as offered by Dignity International as well as a Certificate in Project Management from Daystar University. Other short courses attended include Managing for Results and Corporate Governance Training by CORAT Africa and Media Skills Training by Minority Rights Group-International.
Justin Mutie - Finance and Administration Manager
Justin Mutie Wambua has over eight years experience in financial management and reporting gained in both the private sector (service and manufacturing) and non-governmental organizations. He is a qualified accountant (CPA-K) and a Member of ICPAK (Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya). He previously worked at-Lloyd Masika Kenya Ltd, Kenya Young Men’s Christian Association and Best foods Kenya Limited. He holds B. COM (Accounting Option), Kenyatta University; an MBA(Finance); CPA-K (KASNEB) and CPS-K (KASNEB). He is also a member of the ICPAK FiRe awards evaluation committee.
Enoch Rono - Finance and Procurement Officer
Enoch Rono has over 10 years experience across different industries and previously worked with International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) a coalition of AWF, FFI and WWF where he was based in Rwanda as a Senior Finance and Administration Officer overseeing the day to day accounting and finance processes across the three countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, CPA (K) and is currently pursuing an MBA in strategic management at Strathmore Business School. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Vivian Ongaya - Deputy Finance Officer, Finance and Administration
Vivian Ongaya has over 3 years experience in accounts having worked for Asahi Consulting Ltd-M&E Engineers as an Accountant and office Administrator from 2009 and later joined Nation Media Group as an Assistant Accountant. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting Option) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and CPA part II (KASNEB).
Elizabeth Munyefu – Human Resource and Administration officer
Elizabeth has over five years experience in the corporate sector, the most recent being eManage Africa Ltd where she served as the Human Resource Team Leader. She plans, directs and coordinates all Human Resource and administration activities and functions of TI-Kenya. She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a Bachelors degree in Education from the same institution.
Dorah Nesoba - Communications Officer
Dorah has a diverse background in communication, research and governance and a wealth of experience as a writer and editor. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Communication and Journalism) degree from Moi University; a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and a Certificate in Governance and Anti-Corruption from Marquette University, USA. She previously worked at The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) and the Institute for Civic Affairs and Development (ICAD). She has also worked at The People Daily and The Standard Newspaper and has edited several publications including the Link, Local Development Monitor and Maiella.
Collins Baswony - Deputy Communications Officer
Collins Baswony is a Bachelor of Arts (Communication & Media Technology) graduate from Maseno University, with 3 years experience working on various projects and organizations - Equator Radio - Maseno University, Nation Media Group, African Laughter Ltd and I paid a Bribe Kenya. He specifically handles in-house publications, assisting in developing, editing, designing and publishing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, management of E-Communication tools, facilitating public engagement in forums and training activities, event organization, media relations, photography and Videography.
Jacob Otachi - Deputy Officer, Communications and Climate Governance
Jacob Otachi has vast experience in Information Communication Technology (ICT), corporate communications and Information Management. He previously worked in the ICT division with KIRDI, served as an Information and Advocacy consultant with FEMNET and has held various other portfolios including elections management,teaching,student leadership and as a radio presenter. He is currently in charge of TI-Kenya's online communications, corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, media monitoring, knowledge management and works in collaboration with other TI-Kenya support programmes on advocacy. He also provides leadership and spearheads advocacy and communication strategies for the Climate Governance and Integrity Programme. He holds a Bsc. Information Science degree from Moi University and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Communication at the University of Nairobi.
Judy Ndichu - Programme Officer, Climate Governance
Judy Ndichu has five years of experience in environmental management, climate change adaptation and advocacy. She joined TI-Kenya in August 2011 from Kenya National Federation of Agricultural Producers–KENFAP where she worked as a province coordinator- Nakuru, Naivasha and Koibatek. She previously served as an Environment Officer at Maji na Ufanisi where she coordinated environment management and climate adaptation projects. She is one of the founder members of Kenya Climate Change Working Group where for two years she lead the water thematic group in lobbying and advocating for climate change adaptation in the water sector. She holds a BA in Geography from Moi University.
James Mwangi Kibathi - Research Officer
James Kibathi is an economist by profession and has vast experience in research and related work in the field of human rights. He previously worked with Release Political Prisoners Trust, the Social Reform Center, where he embarked on Penal Reform, Policy Advocacy and general programme management. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Education – Economic and Geography from Egerton University and Masters in Financial Management and Economics from Middlesex University in London.
Harriet Wachira - Deputy Research Officer
Harriet has over 4 years in research work. She has previously worked with Milward Brown East Africa as well as AC Nielsen Kenya Ltd as a research assistant. She also worked as independently as a research consultant. She has a Bachelors degree in Education from UON as well as higher diploma in Human resource management from the institute of Human resource management.
Juliet Mule - Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Nairobi
Juliet is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 6 years experience and previously worked as the Legal Director at the Legal Aid Centre of Eldoret (LACE) with Ampath Centre-Eldoret to assist people infected/affected with HIV/AIDS. She is a human rights defender with a keen focus on women and children rights. She is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Moi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and is currently pursuing a diploma course in project management at the Kenya Institute of Management.
Anne Buluma - Deputy Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Nairobi
Anne is a lawyer with a passion in gender and human rights. An LLB Graduate from Moi University, School of Law, she previously worked at the Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs and FIDA-Kenya. She has also been a consultant with the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association. Anne has also done extensive research and documentation on the status of the Internally displaced persons in Kenya and on sexual violence, torture, inhuman, degrading treatment in Kenya with Kenya Human Rights Commission and Independent Medico-Legal Unit, respectively. A French speaker, she is currently pursuing a course in Project Management at the Kenya Institute of Management.
Richard Maina - Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Eldoret
Richard is an advocate of the High of Kenya with over 3 years post admission experience, he has previously worked with the Kenya National commission on Human Rights. Prior to joining TI (K) he was in private practice. He served as the interlocutor in a radio talk show “know your rights” aired by Mulembe FM owned by the Royal Media services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a post graduate Diploma in Legal practice from the Kenya school of law and is a member of the Law society of Kenya and the East African Law Society.
Joane Josephine Cheruto - Deputy Programme, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Eldoret
Joane Cheruto is a lawyer by profession, she holds a bachelor`s degree in law and Post graduate Diploma (in law) from the Kenya School of Law she further holds a certificate in Legislative drafting from the Kenya school of law. She has worked as a volunteer with Action Aid International, an assistant lecturer at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. She has 2 years working experience with various NGOs as a (Rapporteur and trainer) and a volunteer with practical knowledge and experience in program management, community mobilizing and advocacy especially civic education.
Francis Kairu - Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Mombasa
Francis Kairu is an advocate of the high court and has worked with: Pamoja Vijana youth initiative as a Project Manager,British council ( Kenya) as a Trainer in 2011 and Ndegwa Waweru & Co advocates as Associate Advocate 2010 to 2012. He is also a professional member of the Law Society of Kenya, East African Law Society and ICJ Kenya chapter. He holds a bachelor`s degree in law and Post graduate Diploma (in law) from the Kenya School of Law.
Noelle Kyany’a - Deputy Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Mombasa
Noelle Mutheu Kyany’a is a graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa with a law degree. She also has a postgraduate diploma (in Law) from the Kenya School of Law. She has worked with Nyaberi and Company Advocates and has also been a volunteer lawyer with the Franciscan Legal Advocacy Project. She joined TI-Kenya as the Deputy Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre in Mombasa.
Titus Ogalo - Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Western
Titus Ogalo is a political scientist by profession having attained a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Moi University. Titus is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in the same field at University of Nairobi. He has over three years experience in advocacy, governance, project planning and management and community mobilization. Previously, he worked with with the Government in the departments of children and probation services, public relations in the office of the Vice President and Ministry of Home affairs, SCOPE attached to the WFP’s food programme in Kilifi County and most recently with Kituo Cha Sheria where he provided leadership in implementation of various projects around access to justice and governance. In the process, he developed and strengthened various nascent community groups and spearheaded research around community based para-legalism to inform and contribute to the legislation making process particularly development of legal aid provision in Kenya. He also contributed to and spearheaded the development and publication of various IEC materials on the devolved funds regime in Kenya and devolution.
Benjamin Maina - Deputy Programme Officer, Advocacy Legal Advisory Centre Western
Benjamin Maina is a lawyer by profession with a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Moi University and a Higher Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, Nairobi. He previously worked at the Kituo Cha Sheria Mombasa Regional office as a Legal Officer before joining TI-Kenya. He has passion for human rights work and people engagement.
Sareen Malik - Programme Officer, Citizen Demand
Sareen Malik is a lawyer by profession and is fluent in three languages (English, French, and Swahili) and knowledgeable in a fourth (Arabic). Sareen brings her interpersonal skills to TI-Kenya after six years of legal and managerial work in the corporate sector. She received her Bachelor of Laws degree, with Honors, in Private Law from the University Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco. Sareen draws on her experience to provide contributions to TI-Kenya, including the design and implementation of a non-investigative Public Complaints Unit.
Joan Kadamu - Deputy Programme Officer, Citizen Demand
Joan Kadamu previously worked with Kituo cha Sheria as a community officer in the Advocacy, Governance and Community Partnerships department. She has also worked for Population Services International, UNICEF as a research assistant and has been involved in conducting corruption perception household surveys by the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi, a Higher Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya institute of Management and a certificate in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) from Zetech College.
Debra Wanjiru Gichio - Programme Officer, Governance and Policy
Debra Wanjiru Gichio has over seven years working experience with emphasis on litigation, human rights, governance and reforms. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and has previously worked with the Independent Medical Legal Unit, as a legal consultant. She has vast knowledge and experience on the operations’ governance systems in Kenya and responses to social inequalities, human rights violations and reforms. She holds a Bachelors of Laws LL.B – University of Nairobi, Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Practice, and is currently pursuing a Masters (LLM) in International Trade Law at the University of Nairobi.
Ambasa Elijah - Programme Officer, Governance and Policy
Ambasa Elijah has over 4 years experience in governance programmes with emphasis on public policy and legislative drafting. He has worked with the Task Force on Devolved Government as a Research Assistant, State University of New York (SUNY Kenya) as a Junior Legislative Fellow in their Parliamentary strengthening programme, Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) as a Programme Associate and the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) where he served as a Research Associate. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Kisumu Polytechnic, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Public Administration and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts Degree in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Nairobi.
Rwamba Nelius – Deputy Programme Officer, Institutional Strengthening, Governance & Policy
Rwamba Nelius is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology. She has previously worked with the red cross as volunteer on humanitarian projects as well as disaster management. She has also worked at I Choose Life - Africa as a Training Group Facilitator and a Behaviour Change Communications Facilitator and worked as a research assistant for the Department of Probation and Aftercare services, Ministry of Home affairs. She is currently enrolled in a social reporting apprenticeship program on innovative procurement reform.
Nicolas Séris - Programme Coordinator, Humanitarian Aid Programme
Nicolas Séris previously worked with Transparency International-Secretariat in Berlin, Germany for two years as a senior programme coordinator in the Africa and Middle East Department. He has also worked for six years in several countries in the Middle East and in Africa managing development and emergency programs for International Humanitarian NGOs as a program coordinator and then as a Country Director. He holds a Bachelor`s degree in Historical Sciences from Strasbourg University, France and a Masters Degree in Development and crisis Management studies from Sorbonne University.
Caleb Paul Mbalukha - Programme Officer, Humanitarian Aid
Caleb is joining the Humanitarian Aid Programme team to support the implementation of the programme in Kenya as well as the setting up of the International network. His primary role will be to ensure the proper implementation of the advocacy, capacity building and citizens empowerment components of the program in Wajir, West Pokot and Turkana. Caleb will also play a key role in piloting I Care (the Integrated Complaint Automated Referral system) in Turkana.
Caroline Ruto - Deputy Programme Officer, Humanitarian Aid
Caroline Ruto holds a wealth of experience in programs, personnel management and research gained having worked with World Concern and Horn Relief (International Humanitarian organizations) and as a Deputy Research Officer with Praso. She holds a Diploma in Project Management and Bachelor of Commerce degree from Egerton University.
Cleophas Wekesa-Office Assistant
Cleophas M. Wekesa has over 8 years experience in ICT; three of which he served in VSAT/DSTV installation in the Telcom sector. He previously worked with Aldean Satellite Networks Ltd as a Technician before joining TI-Kenya in 2005.He holds an international Diploma in Computer Studies (NCC-UK) from multi-media University college and another in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Elgon view college Eldoret. He is currently pursuing a bachelor`s degree in Business Information Technology at Kenya Methodist University.
